Into the mountains

One of the magical things about Seattle is leaving the rain behind and heading into the mountains for a winter wonderland. In less than an hour we are bundling up in snow suits and mittens and playing in the snow.
Lily cried for the majority of our first venture - probably due to shoes that were too big and a snow suit that was too small. Today was much better. She loved sliding around on her butt and throwing snowballs. Beatrice broke her snow shoes in for the first time today! She didn't get very far, but did surprisingly well.

Carol's Birthday weekend

I celebrated my 36th birthday (ouch!) with a delicious breakfast at Skillet Diner, a facial, super duper chocolate cake, and a decadent dinner with Ian at Staple & Fancy. The next day we ventured down to the Point Defiance Zoo in Tacoma and had a great time seeing the walruses and baby tigers.

Point Defiance Zoo play area. We had it all to ourselves!

Christmas Festivities

We traveled to Arlington from 12/19-12/24 to visit with family and friends. Beatrice was a gem on the airplane. Lillian - not as much. I brought her car seat, which probably saved me from being mauled by my 1.5 year old, but it was still a very long plane ride.
We had a great time in Arlington. Mimi and the girls bunked up for 5 nights and did amazingly well! Bea slept on her pull-out chair and we stuck Lily's pack-n-play in the dressing area. Beatrice LOVED having room mates and was very sad to return to her current solo sleeping arrangement. We made it home late on Christmas Eve and had a wonderful Christmas morning followed by lunch at Nana's and dinner at Grandpa's house. The girls kept up their energy and spirits - it was a day full of amazing food & present galore.
